For one weekend only this November, three of Colorado’s most pioneering art galleries and one of Denver’s most revered apparel icons will create a cultural experience as subtle and grand, as the American West.
Brief and brilliant, the journey will begin Friday evening, as gallery partners—K Contemporary, Abend Gallery and Gallery 1261, together with internationally renowned Rockmount Ranch Wear, co-host a warm public “Howdy” at Rockmount’s historic Wazee Street trading post.
As it has been for more than 70 years, this remarkable building will be fully stocked with traditional Western apparel and accessories that have made Rockmount the undisputed trail boss of its field. And, for that one cheerful weekend, Western visions of oil, watercolor and pure inspiration will be fully in their element in the house of cotton, wool and leather.
Dozens of paintings by many of Colorado’s most celebrated artists will grace Rockmount’s sagebrush-scented walls, each one offering a powerful perspective on our shared Western heritage, and all of them drawing from the deep well of talent that resides within the three art gallery partners.
The featured artists will include: Duke Beardsley, Quang Ho, Gregory Block, Michael Dowling, Lorenzo Chavez, David Grossman, Stephanie Hartshorn, Dana Hawk , David Kammerzell, Ed Kucera, Kim Mackey, Karen Roehl, Dave Santillanes, Matt Smith, Jill Soukup and Elsa Sroka.
